In the southwest portion of the United States you will find warm climate and southern hospitality abound. You will also find a good amount of theme parks for the entire family to enjoy. Some of the more well known parks will be described below. If you live in the area of one of these great parks or will be visiting the region soon, perhaps a trip to one of these fun spots is the thing to do.

Enchanted Island Amusement Park

If you are in the Phoenix, Arizona area then a trip to the Enchanted Island Amusement Park is a must. This park is one which caters to the smaller children. It has gentler rides such as the carousel, C.P. Huntington Train which tours the grounds, the Dragon Wagon for a little wilder fun and the parachutes ride which will take you high in the sky to view the park. This amusement park also features fun coin operated games and games of skill. For a break in between the rides and games, head on over to the snack bar for an ice cream sandwich and a hot dog.

If you are in the Albuquerque, New Mexico region and are anxious to get to the nearest theme park then heading over to Cliff’s Amusement Park should do the trick. This park features thrill rides such as the SideWinder, the Cliff Hanger and the Falling Star. For those who want an easier ride while visiting Cliff’s Amusement Park you should try the carousel or the family train ride. There is a little bit of something for everyone at Cliff’s Amusement Park.

No matter what type of entertainment you crave, Frontier City is the place to go. With over 40 acres, Frontier City is the largest theme park in the state of Oklahoma. Those who live in the area or are visiting should look no further than this park. When visiting the park be sure to check out some of the highlights which include the thrill rides, Mindbender and the Diamond Back.

White Sands National MonumentYou have to go here to really understand how great this destination is.� It’s like a beach without an ocean but it’s more than just that.� It’s white sand dunes that stretch out past your eye’s reach.� It’s cheap and it’s fun and it’s a place where your family can go for a day trip if you live - or want to vacation - in the area.

On the water

New Mexico is, admittedly, a hot destination for summer.� But there are places on the water that you can visit to enjoy some of those summery experiences that make vacationing fun.� Summer Lake and Conchas Lake are popular summer destinations for families who enjoy boating and fishing.� Summer Lake also allows for swimming.� For a really unique New Mexico destination, check out Abiquiu Dam.

New Mexico isn’t exactly an urban destination but it does have its cities and they offer a lot in terms of museums and other activities for families.� Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Las Cruces are the places that you’re looking at if you want a bigger spot to stay in with your family.� Each offers something different in terms of experience so do your research to pick the right one for your family.
