Ideas for Fun Adventure Family Vacations to Take Your Kids On

By Christy Tanner

Sometimes when we plan our family vacation we want to do something completely different from other vacations. I have researched a few vacations that are unique, but also fun. So include that fun factor with your decision and it will make for a memorable family vacation.

First, if you like Tropical Islands and relaxation, a few ideas you might want to consider are:

Cruising Around the Barrier Islands

Cruising Around the Barrier Islands

How about a day of shelling on deserted beaches, or perhaps swimming in emerald green water, or even fishing under the stars relaxing at night? If these ideas sound like fun to you, then try these islands out … Sanibel, Captiva, North Captiva and Cavo Costa which are all off the Southwest Florida coast. This could make for a memorable time for you and your family. You will create new memories with your family in this once in a lifetime vacation that your kids will always remember.

Kelsey Family Dude Ranch in Montana

Check out the Kelsey family dude ranch. This unique ranch offers a family oriented and authentic dude ranch experience for families. You might even want to consider holding a family reunion here for an experience that is easier (no one is stuck doing the cooking or cleaning) and memorable. Daily ranch activities include the ever popular horseback riding, weekly gymkhanas, even an all day ride with a tent packed for an overnight trip.

A great lake to check out on vacation is Grider Hill. Grider Hill is a 50,000-acre lake that stretches across 100 miles. The water shimmers as you look out onto it and the shoreline is huge. In fact, to see the whole lake you would need to travel 1,225 miles by boat. Along the shore you will witness the foothills of the Cumberland towers, and the foliage is of hardwoods, hemlock, cedars, and pines. Visit Grider Hills Lake Dock.

Finally the ultimate vacation that I would love to go and see is a visit to the Galapagos Islands. You can see the wildlife and enjoy hikes, kayaking, rafting, canoing and fishing. There are five islands to visit. Like I said I think this would be the greatest vacation possible.

It’s strictly up to you and your family when deciding what and where you want to go. Make it a decision made by all and everyone will enjoying it that much more.

Review of Travel Potty Seats (Which Potties are Best for Vacations)

Fisher Price Potty on the Go Gray

A Review of Kids’ / Toddlers’ Travel Potties

One thing that I hate about potty training a toddler is that it then becomes way too difficult to go anywhere without worrying about potential wetting accidents. I love the idea of getting a travel potty for my 2 year old toddler, so I am writing this article while I am researching products for my little girl. I have heard very good things about the Caboose, but the Potty-on-the-Go might be the way to go because I think that it looks like it would stay the most clean / sanitary. What are your thoughts everyone?

Travel Potty ($23.19)

Travel Potty for Travel

A travel potty that is great for toddlers and young children to take along on long car trips or camping. The nice thing is that it easily folds to briefcase size. Attach the disposable bag, and this potty goes anywhere. The two large storage compartments provide room for supplies, and it comes with 4 zip lock disposable gallon bags. Uses standard gallon size storage bags. Ages 18 mos. and up to 70 lbs.

PROS: The seat is light and it has adequate storage for underwear, baby wipes, and extra storage bags. One parent said that they can fit about six-eight pullups, fifteen bags, and half a pack of baby wipes in both compartments with additional space left. Another positive is that you can just buy the generic brand of gallon bags and they work just fine…so you don’t have to waste money on buying special bags.

CONS: A few parents complained about the small circumference of the potty seat for their little boys, so if you have a little boy who stands up while they pee, they will have to sit when using this potty seat.

Fisher-Price Potty On-the-Go … Also Comes in Other Colors ($69.99)

Fisher Price Potty on the Go Gray

The base is sturdy and folds flat to fit in the snazzy tote. The tote is discreet and includes pockets for wipes, toilet paper, etc. When the time comes, simply attach a garbage bag, throw in a nursing pad, and dispose. It potty is easily wiped clean, and the tote keeps it from getting dirty when transporting. The Potty On-the-Go includes five disposable bags and absorbent pads, but the nice thing is that they recommend replacing these with generic four-gallon bags and nursing pads–couldn’t be easier. Designed for comfort, cleanliness and convenience, with smooth, easy-to-wipe-clean surfaces and a mess-free, disposable bag and absorbent pad waste containment system. Just tie it, and toss it! Potty folds flat for compact carry in a machine-washable, take-along tote with organizer pockets that keep your personal care supplies handy, like your wipes and hand sanitizer. Includes 5 disposable bags and 5 absorbent pads. Replace with standard 4-gallon garbage bags and any type of absorbent pads (nursing pads, sanitary pads, etc.).

PROS: Very easy to put together and take apart. The bag has room for toilet paper or whatever. The bag makes it very portable and easy to use for travel.

CONS: It is a bit bulky. The hole is a bit small so your child might have to be a pro at aiming.

Caboose Travel Diaper Potty ($18.99)

Caboose Travel Diaper Potty

The Caboose Travel Diaper Potty is an inexpensive travel potty that uses a diaper as a liner, giving your toddler the ability to go anywhere, anytime, with easy cleanup for you! It’s Compact! So small, it fits on a standard sheet of paper. The top fits in the base for even more compact storage. It can fit in your diaper bag, or under the stroller, or on the floorboard of the car. It’s Convenient! With our patented diaper-catching design, give your toddler a clean , real potty that works. Because when you gotta go, you gotta go!

PROS: The major positive is the price. This Caboose uses a diaper, what a unique idea. The carrying case is easy to open, and setting up the potty with a diaper is really easy. When done, you just roll up the diaper and throw it away, no worrying about leaks or anyone seeing what is inside.

CONS: One mom did mention that she loves it but that she wishes that the two pieces would snap or latch together as the top and bottom of the potty just sit on top of each other. If there is much movement it slides apart.

Kalencom POTETTE - On the Go Potty ($10)

Kalencom POTETTE - On the Go Potty

A must for kids “on the go”. Now there’s always a clean restroom close by! Our take-along potty is comfortable, sturdy, and folds flat in its carry tote for easy travel. Sets up in seconds; just unfold the legs. Very sanitary, too: its clever disposable liner has a scented pad that absorbs contents and odors. Three liners included; additional liners sold separately. Ideal for the car, boat, and camper. Supports kids up to 50 lbs.

PROS: One mother mentioned that she had the Fisher Price Travel Potty and that she liked the On the Go Potty much better for travel because it is much less bulky. It is small and lightweight, so it fits in your purse or pack, sets up quick and stays clean. disposal of the used bags is easy because they have absorbent pads inside and you can tie them securely so that they won’t make any messes until you find a trash can. The potette has a thick plastic bag it comes in, so you can even stick the used bag inside that with the potette till you find a trash.

CONS: A few parents complained that the potty is much too small for children over 3 years old.

Family Vacations and Handling Stress When Traveling with Kids Better

Family Vacations and Handling Stress When Traveling with Kids Better

Family Vacations and Handling Stress When Traveling with Kids Better

Yes family vacations are suppose to be fun and stress free, but they rarely work out to be that way. The kids argue amongst themselves or don’t pay attention to what you tell them to do, and even you and your spouse get into those little fights. You know the ones that I’m talking about, the ones that are about nothing at all. Maybe the fight is that you made the peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the wrong kind of jelly. It happens to families that are new, and families who have been together for years.

You know what I always think about when I think of a family vacation? Yes, you guessed it, I think of National Lampoon’s Vacation, Chevy Chase as Clark Griswald, and Beverly D’Angelo as his wife, and of course they had the two teenage kids. That movie has got to be the epitome of the worst vacation someone could ever have. I mean think about it, what else could have gone wrong? Nothing really. I laugh now just picturing scenes from that movie and how Clark seemed to stumble and bumble through the whole trip. I mean couldn’t the guy just get a bit of a break?

I know none of our own vacations are that bad (hopefully). If family vacations were really like that, I don’t think that anyone would ever take one. There are a number of ways that you can cut down on the stress of a family vacation, number one being don’t put too much pressure on timelines. If you’re rushing because you only have five minutes to get to a certain location, but your 30 minutes away, the stress will escalate past the point of good. Go a long with a pace that is leisurely and never schedule something at a specific time, unless it is utterly unavoidable. Don’t try to fit too much sightseeing in one day, again you will only be rushing your family and causing a sure fight as everyone gets upset and tired. On the same note, you want to make sure that you don’t schedule too little to do in a day. Bored kids are unhappy kids and may cause a problem with another family member. It is a happy medium you have to reach for your family in making sure that you have the right amount of activities planned.

Also make sure that the places you are choosing are oriented towards a children as well as the proper age of your kids. A child will become grumpy and moody if they are bored. So don’t pick a place like Las Vegas where there isn’t a whole bunch of things that are targeted towards kids. Not saying they don’t have children’s stuff to do, heck Circus Circus is a great place for kids, but if you are going to be there a week this might become old hat for you kids. Instead, pick an amusement park, like Six Flags or something along those lines, the kids are guaranteed to be busy and happy campers. Like I said it just takes some proper planning as a family and you should have a relatively stress free time.

Something else to think of is how are you going to get to your destination? Are you going to be driving a car, taking your RV, or are you going to catch a flight? All of these are good choices, but some can cause more stress than others. Not that everything will be stress or problem free. So choose wisely when you decide how you are going to get to your destination. Every child is different, and you know best as to what your kids will tolerate.

A good idea for planning a family vacation is to gather everyone around to talk things over. You might want to speak with your spouse or partner first and then gather the kids around to discuss details. Either way, kids will feel better about the vacation if you include them in the decision making. Maybe what you should do is make schedule a family meeting. Discuss the itinerary and whether or not everyone feels that the pace will be okay with them. Vacations are short, but don’t try to pack everything into one day. Nobody will think that is fun so it’s always a good idea to discuss these things as a family … it is everyone’s vacation after all. Try to make it a peaceful relaxing time with no mishaps like the Griswalds.

Good Car Food for Kids on Long Family Summer Road Trips

Good Car Food for Kids on Long Family Summer Road Trips

Good Car Food for Kids on Long Family Summer Road Trips

Family road trips take place many times throughout the year but especially so during the summertime. In addition to finding good car activities to entertain the little ones during the trip another consideration to keep in mind is what food to bring along for snacking on during the journey.

Individual Bags of Crackers

100 calorie crackers packs is great and to eat for kids in the car

When packing up a snack bag for the family summer road trip, one of the staples which should be included is individual bags of crackers. Things such as Goldfish, Wheat Thins or Cheez-Its provide somewhat healthy cracker snacks for the family. These items provide good ingredients and are packaged so that everyone can have their own individual bag and eat it at their own pace.

Bottled Water

Bottled Water is great and to eat for kids in the car

Bottled water is another necessity to have on hand during the road trip. It is extremely important to be well hydrated and water is the best way to do so. Bottled water provides a good way for everyone to have individual drinks and this item can be consumed cold or at room temperature.

Dried Fruit and Trail Mixes

Dried Fruit and Trail Mixes are great and to eat for kids in the car

For those who like fruit with a kick, dried fruit provides a good car snack for the road trip. These fruit products come in a variety of styles and one can choose regular dried fruit or a combination of fruit, nuts and granola. This healthy and delicious snack is good road trip food for all.

Apples, Grapes, and Pears

Apples, Pears, and Grapes are great and to eat for kids in the car

Three other types of fruit which you can take in the car and not have to worry about keeping it cold are apples, grapes, and pears. These items are good car food since they are healthy snacks and won’t create a big mess while being eaten in the car.

Juice Boxes are Great for Car Travel

Juice Boxes are great and neat for the car

For those who like something other than water, juice boxes provide a good alternative. Juice boxes are available in a variety of flavors and they are usually healthier than soda would be. Plus, kids love the straw effect of the juice boxes.

Snack Pack Cookies or Cookies in a Plastic Baggie

100 Calorie Pack Cookies are a good car food

It’s also a wise idea to bring along some sweet food items as well. Cookies are a good option as they are easily portable and most people like to eat these tasty treats.

Little Boxed Raisins are Easy to Eat and Yummy

Little Raisin Boxes are a good car food

Little raisin boxes are a favorite in my family. The kids love to eat the raisins out of the box and then blow into the empty box because it makes a whistling sound. Just make sure to tell your kids not to blow into the boxes if it will annoy you.

Cereal Bars are Another Good Choice

Cereal Bars are a good car food

Cereal bars are filling as well as pretty neat to eat. Younger kids might decide to smush it into a ball and then eat it. So, if you have younger kids, I don’t suggest cereal bars in the car. My one year old tends to do this and then smushes it into everything. Smushed cereal bars are very sticky so I would say if your child is 3 or 4 and older, cereal bars are a good car option.

Bagel Chips Make Very Few Crumbs

Bagel Chips are a good car food

I like bagel chips for the car because they make almost no crumbs. Younger kids might find these 2 hard to eat, but older kids can eat away without making a mess.

Granola Bars are an Easy Car Food for Your Kids to Eat

Granola Bars are a good car food

Granola bars are very tasty and since they are pre-packaged they are very easy to just throw to your kids on a long road trip. Granola bars also should fill your kids’ bellies up.

String Cheese

String Cheese are a good car food

String cheese is very neat to eat with literally no crumbs. On short trips, they don’t need to be refrigerated, and on longer trips, you can just place them in a cooler.

Cereal Bowls, Mini Cereal Boxes, and Baggies of Cereal

Cereal boxes and cereal bowls are a good car food

Miniature cereal boxes, mini cereal bowls, and baggies of mixed cereal are all a great car treat for long roadtrips. My family buys mini cereal bowls on Amazon. You can buy them bulk on Amazon for much cheaper than you ever would at a local store AND they make a great snack or breakfast when you are on a trip.

Fruit Roll Ups are Easy to Eat in the Car

Fruit Roll Ups are a good car food

Fruit Roll-Ups are very easy to eat when on the road. Plus, as a benefit, your kids will love eating them. Kids have a natural attraction to Fruit Roll-Ups. I don’t normally let my kids eat these because my Dentist advised me not to give them Fruit Roll-ups because it sticks to the teeth. However, once or twice a year is fine, just remember to have them brush their teeth when they get to the hotel.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches are a good car food

If you are searching for something other than snacks and need something a bit more filling, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a good choice. They are easily transported and are a good source of energy for all family members to take advantage of.

How to Find The Safest Places to Travel with Kids

How to Find the Safest Places to Travel With Your Kids on Family Vacations

How to Choose the Safest Places to Travel with Kids

When traveling with kids, most parents view safety as one of the most important components of the trip. Although there are too many safe places to mention in one list, there are features to search for when choosing a vacation destination in order to help ensure that the spot you are choosing is a safe place to travel.

Low Crime Rate

Travel to places with your kids that have low crime rates

Before heading to a certain travel destination you want to try to find out what the crime rate of the area is. Although this will not determine for certain whether or not the place will be safe as there are other factors to consider besides crime, it is a step in the right direction in order to determine the safety factor of the location. These statistics can be acquired online by using a search engine to pull up crime rates of a particular city.

Low Outbreak of Serious Illnesses

Visit Places with Your Kids That Haven't Had Outbreaks of Serious Illnesses

Safety also revolves around health issues. A place which has a low outbreak of serious illnesses or none whatsoever is the best place to choose. This will help to ensure that not only your kids are safe but you are as well.

Stable Social and Political Setting

Stable Social and Political Settings - No riots or political uprisings

A location which has a stable social and political setting is a safe one for children to travel to with their parents. If the country or locale is currently experiencing social unrest and/or is in wartime then the parents should definitely not bring their children to this location at all or at least not until the environment is a more stable one.

Places You Have Been Before

When in Doubt, travel to places that you have been before

It is also a good idea to have traveled to the destination before in order to deem it safe for your children. If you are going back to the same place every year then you know that it is a safe location to bring your kids or otherwise you most likely would not still be going there. Sticking with the usual vacation spots is often a good move for parents traveling with kids, so long as the place is a safe environment for all involved.

Travel Trays and Car Travel Tables and Organizers for Kids to Eat and Play in the Backseats of Your Car or Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Travel Tables & Car Seat Travel Trays & Lap Desks for Kids to Eat, Play, Draw, Color, and Write on Road Trips

My family and I are planning to go on vacation to Florida this Summer. We live in Pennsylvania and we are going to be driving down to Florida with 4 kids aged 16 months old, 7 years old, 8 years old, and 9 years old. Since we are going to be driving for a few days (we are going to space the car trip out to make it easier on the baby) we are looking into kids’ car tables and trays so that the kids can draw and play while making the long trip down to Florida. We already have 3 Alex Car Valet Cases (listed below) for the older children that we purchased 3 years ago, however, we are looking to buy something a little different for the kids this time. In addition, we also want a tray for the baby / toddler so that we can maybe keep her occupied since lately she tends to cry when we are driving.

I have done some research on different car tables, trays, and travel organizers and I thought that I would share what I found with you. I am using Amazon affiliate links, but this didn’t sway my opinions on any of these items. As you can see, each items has my personal thoughts on each item. Please remember that I haven’t tried any of these items other than the Alex Car Valet Case. My opinions on each items are usually based on what other parents’ reviews are of the items and what my general feeling is about the item and how it would work for my own kids. Good Luck and please feel free to tell me about travel trays / tables/ organizers for kids that have worked for you. I am also going to contact these companies to see if they will allow my children to try out their products so that I can give you an accurate review. Enjoy this list.

Alex Car Valet Desk Tables and Organizers Cases

Alex Car Valet

(Approx. $24) This is the Alex Car Valet storage and table tray case that opens and hangs on the back of the seat in front of the child. I actually have 3 of these that I purchased for my kids a few years back. These are adorable travel cases that are in bright primary colors so kids just love them. There is a strap that hangs on the neck rest of the car seat that is front of the child. Then when you unzip the bag, a table drops down. I thought that these cases were really neat, however, the tray isn’t strong enough to draw on comfortably. Plus the child has to lean forward in some cars to be able to reach it comfortably. However, my kids loved them and would carry them around everywhere so I guess it was a hit with them. Also, it was great to be able to just zip them back up when the car ride was over. Another plus is that these travel cases are also an award winning product that won the ASTRA Good Toy Award and Parenting Magazine Mom-Tested! Award so my kids weren’t the only ones who liked them. There are also 2 detachable cases that are attached to the case by velcro. My kids uses to love keeping their crayons and little toys in these cases. They would take them off and carry them around with them, which in a way was sort of a pain because then we would forget to bring the case back into the car. Overall, I loved these cases, but I think that I want something sturdier for our next long car trip coming up. We have had them for 3 years, but they are now being converted into inside art cases for the kids and we are going to get something else for the car.

High Roads Kids Car Oranizer XL - Doubles as a Travel Tray for Kids to Draw and Play on and Room for Storage

High Road Kids Car Organizer XL

(approx. $34) This looks like a nice option for older kids if they don’t mind turning to the left or right side to play with their toys or to draw and color. However, it can hold a LOT of stuff so it is better than the other options that we are showing today. This High Road Kids Car Organizer can end back seat boredom by keeping toys, music, movies, and games handy. It can also eliminate back seat chaos by organizing your child’s snacks, toys, and gear in an easy to find place. Another benefit is that this car tray / organizer makes moving kids toys, food, and arts and crafts supplies easier to move to and from the car a LOT easier. This Child’s car table and organizer is also a Parenting Mom-Tested choice so you know that it has to be good. This is also tall enough for kids in booster seats to reach comfortably. Also, you all your child has to do to use the table is to flip up the sides of the reinforced lid for a fun play space where toys, crayons and even grapes won’t roll off. This children’s organizer table also secures to seat belts and releases quickly when you need to get up and leave the car. Personally, I love the side pockets because they are large enough to hold large cups and a LOT of little items such as crayons, colored pencils, markers, little matchbox cars, and other small items.

Star Kids Snack and Play Travel Tray Table and Storage for Kids in the Car Backseat

Star Kids Snack & Play Travel Tray

(Approx. $19) The Star Kids Snack and Play Travel Tray received great reviews from other parents who used this item. From the image online it also looks like it has a very sturdy tray / table. I also like that there seems to be a LOT of storage to hold the child’s toys, art supplies, books, and drinks. I also loved that this tray has a 2 inch ridge around the tray so that items didn’t fall of the tray continuously, which was a problem with the Alex valet tray case that I got for my kids last time. You can even give your child grapes and they won’t roll off the tray. This car seat tray provides flat, safe area to eat and play for kids in booster seats / car seats as it buckles around children that are in a car seat. The great part about that strap around is that it also works for kids who are in a stroller. How cool is that? It is a 100% nylon; soft foam, durable reinforcement tray that folds on impact and it is very easy to clean because of the nylon that it is made from. This is a highly recommended travel tray organizer for kids that live in families that are always on the go or vacationing. Every parent knows that when children can’t reach items, they become upset. You have to stop the car or reach behind to get the items your child wants. Fitting most booster seats, the Travel Tray goes wherever your car seat does, even on airplanes. Some drawbacks that parents spoke of online are that it iss hard to get unclipped from the side furthest from you, that it is awkward to store it or set it aside when the pockets are filled with things as they tend to fall out, and it is hard for children in booster seats to reach their drink/snack holder, there is a slight slope so crayons and pencils tend to roll towards the child (however this doesn’t seem to be much of a problem since there is a 2 inch ridge at the bottom of the tray), and one parent complained that there was a gap of about 8 or 10 inches from her child’s tummy to the beginning of the tray, which made it very difficult for her child to play with anything on it because items would drop in the space.

Taby Tray Activity Desk / Table / Tray for Kids in the Car

Taby Tray Activity Desk

(Approx. $19) The Taby Tray Activity Desk for kids looks like another great option as it is big enough to play with toys as well as large enough to color in a coloring book. And with a rim all around the tray, your child will be able to use crayons, markers, and pencils without them falling off of the tray. Also, you can feed them items such as grapes without worrying about them rolling off of the tray. Who wants to find a 3 month old grape rotting on the floor of your minivan or car, right? The Taby tray Activity desk for traveling children can also hold snacks, drinks, books, toys, crayons, and other kids items. There is an easy-to-reach cup/bottle holder and is recessed enough to help prevent messy spills. The tray can be washed easliy enough with soap and water which is always a good thing since little ones love to draw with their bottle and sippy cup drinks (at least my silly kids always did). Another great benefit is that this child’s travel tray and organizer also can fit most child car restraint seats and strollers. The way that this travel table and organizer attaches to your car is by using straps and buckles that are then hooked under the seat. This item is recommended for children ages 6 months to 4 years old, however, it can also be used for older children as a lap table alone. One grandmother said that her granddaughter was able to embroider in the car using this tray…that is pretty impressive when you consider that she was doing this in the car. The only complaint that I could find about this seat is that the tray cracked for one customer after only 9 months. However, that is only one complaint out of multiple parents. This childs’ travel table and organizer looks like a good buy to me.

Amuse N Me Back Seat Entertainment Desk Table Tray for Children Traveling on Long Road Trips

Amuse-N-Me Back Seat Entertainment Desk

(Approx. $15) The Amuse-N-Me Back Seat Entertainment Desk reminds me a lot of the Alex Car Valet listed above, so I am a little concerned that the table / tray won’t be sturdy enough to draw or color on it. However, a neat feature of this tray is that it is adjustable depending on how far away your child is from the seat in front of him / her. This child’s entertainment desk / table hangs from the back of the car seat in front of the child and at the same time protects the fabric on that seat from drinks, food, and drawing tools such as markers. This is called an activity center for kids because the child can use the tray to color, draw, play with toys, eat, and drink. A cool feature of the Back seat entertainment desk is that the bottom storage pocket has cover to keep dirt out. Also, the built-in entertainment tray easily folds up when not in use and is easily cleaned when drinks or food items are spilled on it. I couldn’t find a review on this item so it must be a relatively new item. If you have used this car activity desk, please let us know what you and your child think about it. Thanks.

Alex Desk to Go is a car travel lap desk that looks perfect for older kids for the car or airplane during travel or even train

Alex Desk to Go

(Approx. $12) Alex Desk to Go is an adorable lap desk / table for older kids, age 3 and up. This travel desk holds a 9 x 12 inch pad with little triangle corner pockets to hold the pad in place. I think this is a very cute idea and I can definitely see how it got such good reviews from other parents. Unlike the Alex Car Valet Table Organizer that I bought for my kids 3 years ago, this one has a sturdy surface for coloring, drawing and writing as well. And of course it is also sturdy enough for pretend play such as playing with Matchbox cars, little people, Barbie dolls, and action figures. Another great feature is that there are 2 big pockets for holding stuff. The pockets have zippers to hold your child’s crayons, pencils, markers, and little toys, which makes it perfect for the plane, car or anywhere else. Also, the product is made with vinyl, so it is very easy too clean off spills, and sticky food stained surfaces, which is a must with my messy kids. With the price of $12.74 (at least when I looked), you can’t beat the price to value ratio, in my opinion.

Crayola Travel Turtle Tray Desk Table for Kids

Crayola Travel Turtle

(Approx. $21)

Another option is a pillow-type desk such as this Crayola Travel Turtle table. It is adorable, especially for kids who love turtles. This Travel table also comes with coloring books and Crayola crayons, which your children will love to use on your long journey. Another cool feature is that the fleece trutle pillow is detachable from the tray with a zipper pouch for storage. The plastic tray is very sturdy so it is easily used for a work surface for your children to color, draw, write, eat, play, and drink. When you open the packaging, have your kids around, because their is a surprise inside. The turtle pillow is stuffed with crayons and coloring books, which if your child didn’t know about, is going to be a fun surprise for them. This product got good reviews from parents but there are a few issues that you should be aware of before making this purchase. This product isn’t meant for children under 2 or 3 years old as they aren’t able to hold the turtle in place as well as an older child is. One mother claimed that she still liked it for her 1 year old because she held it in place for the child while he / she colored. One other complain was that the side pockets were too little to put items in or to take them out. Other than those 2 issues, this car lap desk received great reviews from parents who used them with their children on road trips and airplane trips.

Fisher Price Rainforest Travel Tray Desk Table for Older Kids in the Car Airplane or Trane

Fisher-Price Rainforest Travel Tray

(Approx. $16) This Fisher-Price Rainforest Travel Tray is also a nice option even though the tray is a little bit smaller than some of the other travel desk options that we have mentioned. The listing says that it is a 2-in-1 travel tray, but I can’t find anywhere what is 2-in-1 about it. Maybe it is 2-in-1 because you can eat and drink on it and you can draw and color on it as well. Or maybe it is 2-in-1 because it unzippers and there is storage inside, but I have no idea why it is called 2-in-1. It might also be that the tray detaches from the pillow for kids who are sitting in a car seat so that they can clip it on the car seat to stay in place. If you know, please enlighten me. This item is recommended for kids ages 3-12 years of age, but I also read a review of a child who was 11 months old and his mother loved this tray. You can see an adorable picture of the child as well here. One of the parents mentioned that this travel tray is nice and soft so not only is it safe, but it can also easily be moved or even thrown around the car to get it out of the way when not using it. This family leaves one side clipped on and just flips it out of the way and it hangs onto the seat of the car next to the car seat when not in use. However, you can just unclip it and store it elsewhere if you want. A benefit of this tray is that it is very light so if you want to pack it in your suitcase, it is very light and easy to do so. Many parents mentioned that the tray wasn’t big enough to hold an 8 x 11 piece of paper, but since you buy this product acknowledging this problem, you already will know ahead of time to purchase smaller pieces of paper. Also, many parents mentioned that a sippy cup isn’t easily placed on the tray because it will just slide off of the tray. This won’t be a problem, however, if you have a car seat with a cup holder.

Case Logic Kids Activity Tray / Table / Desk for Children in the Car

Case Logic Kids Activity Tray

(Approx. $19) This is a Case Logic Kids Activity Tray for kids to use on long trips. I like the look of this product as it looks sturdy and large enough for the child to do multiple activities such as draw, write, color on large paper, eat, drink, and play as well. However, I was surprise when the one review on Amazon wasn’t too good. So I looked around a bit on the net and found more so-so, slightly positive reviews on the Case Logic web site (which is the manufacturer of this item). This child’s Laptop tray provides hours of backseat entertainment with a hard surface that is perfect for drawing, coloring, or playing with favorite toys, but there is no rim around the tray so items might roll off. A great feature of this travel desk is that it is very easily transportable because it folds up into a “mini briefcase” that you can then bring with you. There are zippered pockets for toys, crayons, pencils, markers, and other items. There is also a slot pocket that holds coloring books, papers, and other items like this. The surface is very easily cleaned and wiped down when messes are made on the surface. One user claimed that items slipped off of the surface too easily, and yet another parent claimed that their 2 year old bent the tray surface already, and one parent was disappointed that the travel desk didn’t attach directly to the car seat because her child wasn’t able to balance it easily enough on her knees. However, most parents gave it a positive review, even though most users had slight complaints about issues they had with the product.

Laptop Automobile Table Tray for Kids and Parents who want to use it as a table for a laptop

Laptop Auto Table Tray

(Approx. $18) This is a Laptop Auto Table Tray that isn’t specifically meant for children, however, depending on your needs, it may work for your kids. You can turn Your Car Into a computer work station for yourself or your kids, if you want to. You or your child can now easily access the laptop, portable DVD players, or toy laptops, Leapfrog type learning toys, and other electronic items. And just like other trays, it can also be used for coloring, writing, drawing, eating, drinking, playing board games, or pretend playing of course. The Auto Tray Table offers easy installation and adjustable angle to suit all heights and vehicle types. The installation is onto the back of the front car seat with easy height and angle adjustment. Believe it or not, you can also use it on the steering wheel (Obviously, when you are not using the car to drive). Another benefit of this portable car table is that it folds flat in seconds, only 1.5″ thick when in the closed position. Secure grip hooks tightly to ensure maximum stability. You can be sure that this car table won’t fly off of the chair in front of your child because there is a strong, secure grip that can hold up to 20lbs. This travel desk got mixed reviews, but mostly because the people who reviewed it weren’t being practical. One parent used it for her 11 month old baby to watch tv and the baby would kick the table, but this product wasn’t meant for babies. Another reviewer said that he hooked it onto his steering wheel and would play xBox while he was driving so this also, isn’t a reliable review because (hopefully) he was just being silly. So if you like the features, and you think it would be useful to you, then I would try it out, and if you do, please comment about it so other parents will know whether it is for them or their children to use on long trips.

Travel Tikes Car Activity Center for Kids on Long Trips

(Approx. $19)

Travel Tikes Car Activity Center

The Travel Tikes Car Activity Center is a different type of Travel activity car desk than the previous products in that it is specifically for drawing. There are built in adjustable straps that attaches to back of seat in front of the child using the activity center. There is a built in drawing pad with an erasable art surface that allows the child to draw on the surface over and over again without paper. There is also some storage space for extra items that the child might want to use. The activity center is easy to remove when your child wants to bring it inside with them. This activity center includes car activity doodle center, 8 Crayons, & 3 Stencils. There was only one review and it wasn’t a good one. The parent of this one review said that it was almost impossible to erase the board after use. It looks like a very nice travel art set so if you think it is worth the risk, you should try it out. Maybe the item would erase better with wet wipes. Or maybe the reviewer didn’t use the drawing items that came with the product. If you have used this item, please let us know what YOU think about the item. Thanks.

Vehicles Transportation Magnetic Traveling Art Set and Magnetic Toys Set Desk for Cars

Transportation Magnetic Travel Art Set Lap Desk by Pecoware

(Approx. $20) The Transportation Magnetic Travel Art Set Lap Desk is another alternative for your child to use as a desk in the car. It is a great option for children who love to draw as well as children who love magnetic sets as well as vehicles. This magnetic travel art set is definitely a great way to keep your children busy on long car rides. The traveling art set includes over 30 magnetic vehicle pieces, 3 markers, drawing papers, 7 crayons and dry erase marker with eraser. The magnetic cars, trucks, planes, motorcycles, train, boats and more stick to the exterior stage on the front of the lap desk. There is a comfortably soft cushion for setting the desk on your child’s lap and interior storage pockets to help hold all the goodies. Your child will love to express their artistic side for hours using this lap desk. So there are many alternative uses for this interesting travel children’s product. This Magnetic Traveling Art Desk is too new to have a review yet, but if you have tried it please enlighten us with your personal product review.

Butterfly Dragonfly Garden LAP DESK portable travel personal bed student girl's children's purple blue Bedroom Home Decor

Butterfly Dragonfly Garden LAP DESK portable travel personal bed student girl’s children’s purple blue Bedroom Home Decor

(Approx. $19) This is just a simple student lap desk, but I think this would also be perfect for kids in the car. What do you think? This is for a little girl since there are flowers and a butterfly on it, but I don’t think that a little boy would know since it is blue and purple and there is a dragonfly on there as well. This pretty blue lap desk is made of sturdy wood with a cushy pillow under-side. Fun butterfly and dragonfly accents are surrounded by purple, pink, and white daisies. It has a handle for easy carrying and comes with it own zippered vinyl case for storage. Features zipper pockets for storing things like pencils, pens, crayons or stickers. Perfect for studying in bed or on the sofa, vacation trips in a car or on the plane. Since there is storage under the pillow and a handle to carry it, this is very easy for a child to take onto an airplane. This is a good option for parents looking for a simple traveling case / desk.

Dream Desk Portable Lap Desk for Kids to Use in the Car

Dream Desk Portable Lap Desk For Kids

(Approx. $17)
The Dream Desk Portable Lap Desk is also a great option for kids who are taking a long or short road trip. Perfect while traveling or on road trips. What I like best about this travel desk for kids is the sliding storage compartment for crayons, markers, rulers and other art supplies. The soft fleece and bead-filled bottom conforms to your child’s lap for maximum comfort and stability. The Dream Desk is ultra comfortable even for long periods of use and is great for keeping your kids occupied in a car, train, bus or on an airplane plane. It is also very easy to keep clean. This item is recommended for children ages 4 and up because children younger than this will have a hard time stabilizing it on their lap. One thing that I noticed from the picture is that the drawing area is very small, so you would need to provide your children with smaller-sized paper, activity books, and coloring books or they will have a hard time drawing on this desk and then you will just land up with cranky and complaining children. So just be aware of this before you buy it. The one review that I found online was a very positive review. The parent reviewer gave this item 5 stars because her children absolutely love this product. They used it on a long car trip and also use it to work on crafts on the floor when they are inside. So overall this looks like a great product that is worth its money, depending on who and what you want to use it for.

Children’s Creativity Kit & Lap Desk perfect for car travel, airplane travel or train trips

Children’s Creativity Kit & Lap Desk

(approx. $14) This one is called The Children’s Creativity Kit and Lap Desk and it is a travel set to encourage creativity, arts and crafts, coloring, drawing, and art in general. As a parent, you can help encourage your child’s creativity by getting this Creativity Kit Lap Desk. This set also provides storage for all their favorite drawing, coloring, and art tools which fit inside a comfy travel lap desk. The art kit has all the essentials your child needs to work on art and other creative projects while in the car, airplane, train, or sitting on the bed in the hotel. This portable children’s lap desk is constructed of durable plastic and has a soft micro-bead pillow that forms comfortably to your child’s lap. There is also a heavy duty nylon strap so that your child can take it with them when it is time leave the car. A nice feature of this portable plastic clip keeps the storage container closed and the supplies inside neat and organized. Two detachable storage trays allow your kids to keep the art tools and utensils they need most right at their finger tips when the lid of the portable desk is closed. This portable creativity kit includes 8 markers, 6 crayons & colored Pencils, 2 detachable storage trays, 1 ruler, pencil, eraser & sharpener as well. There are no reviews of this item yet, but it looks like a nice product. If you have any experience with this item, please write a comment to tell us more about it.

Alex LAP DOODLE BOARD - travel erasable board activity tray for the car travels

Alex LAP DOODLE BOARD

(Approx. $49) This is an expensive alternative to the other lap desks and trays. There really isn’t any storage available, except for the mesh marker holder on the top left of the doodle board. However, at second glance, this product has won multiple awards, including Toys “Best Vacation Products” Award, NAPPA’s “Silver Seal” Award, Nick Jr. Magazine’s “Best Toys” Award, and Oppenheim Toy Portfolio’s “Gold Sea;” Award. This dry erase board comes with 4 preprinted games, 6 dry erase markers, and an eraser. It is sure to keep your kids occupied on a short car, airplane, or train trip, I’m just not sure that it would keep a child busy for a long trip. One benefit that I love is that there is no mess since there is no paper involved. This dry erase game board features four pre-printed games, a secret code and a plain white drawing surface for children to express their own creativity. The dry-erase surface wipes clean with the included eraser and the dry-erase markers are easy to use and virtually mistake proof! The convenient snap-on storage pouch keeps the six dry erase markers and eraser within reach. Provides hours of fun and creativity while on the move. There was only one review of this item on Amazon, and it was a positive review. I couldn’t find other reviews online. The one problem mentioned is that it is hard for the reviewer’s 3 year old child to open and close the marker storage compartment by herself.

The Laptop Art Desk can easily be carried everywhere thanks to its sturdy, contoured lap design and soft grip handle. Laptop Art Desk by Mega Barands

Laptop Art Desk: Orange by Mega Brands

(Approx. $6)

Laptop Art Desk: Purple by Mega Brands

(Approx. $4.50)

I don’t know why the purple desk is cheaper than the orange desk. I think that it is because the purple desk received lower ratings from reviewers. This Laptop Art Desk receives awful reviews but it is so cheap that you might consider purchasing it for the art supplies included inside. It is a cool kit for budding writers and artists, young travelers or just about anyone with non-stop imagination. Here are a few project ideas for which the Laptop Art Desk would prove handy: keeping a bright and exciting travel journal; designing unique and very personalized postcards for friends and family. Plastering your entire room with your own art. The Laptop Art Desk can easily be carried everywhere thanks to its sturdy, contoured lap design and soft grip handle. Inside you will find 12 colored pencils, 7 broadline markers, 3 stamper markers, 2 dry erase markers, 8 crayons, 2 chalk, dry erase eraser, dry erase surface plus activities, an activity book and paper. In all, there are over 70 art supplies and activities and lots of room to store collectibles. Parents will appreciate how occupied it keeps children; children will love how fun it is to keep busy. The parents who reviewed this items complained about a few different things. One reviewer complained that this traveling case / desk broke on the same day that they received it. Another reviewer’s child had a hard time opening the case. One reviewer complained that there was chalk included but no chalkboard and that only the paper provided fits in the paper slots. However, since the price is so low, you might want to try it out. Either way, you are getting your money’s worth when you get the art supplies that are included.

After researching these items, and spending most of the day working on this blog, I think that I have decided to buy Star Kids Snack & Play Travel Tray for all 3 of my children. However, I am going to see if some of these companies will let me review their products before I make up mind completely. I will post results of the review if I am able to do so.

What to Do When Stranded in an Airport with Kids - Fun Things to Do with Children in an Airport

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

How to Handle Being Stranded in an Airport with Cranky Kids

How to Handle Being Stranded in an Airport with Cranky Kids

Traveling with children is never easy however it can be made easier by keeping a few tips in mind. One issue which often arises is the stranding of one in an airport with cranky kids. The good news is that there are ways to handle this situation should it arise.

Have Snacks on Hand

Have Snacks on Hand to Give Kids When Stranded in Airport

One of the main reasons why kids become cranky is that they are hungry. If you find yourself stranded at the airport, try to make sure you have snacks on hand. Some parents will travel with a plethora of snacks to pacify the hungry little ones. If you find that you don’t have snacks packed, simply head down to the snack bar and pick up some healthy snacks for the kids. This will not only ease the crankiness by easing their hunger but it will also use up some time as well.

Entertainment

Entertain your kids with games, coloring books, paper, crayons

Another tip for easing the crankiness when stranded at an airport with kids is to have enough entertainment on hand for all to enjoy. Things such as coloring books, reading books, games, word searches and I-Spy games will all do the trick. These entertainment items should pass the time and ease the crankiness.

Pull Out a Map

Pull out a map for your children in the airport to show them where they are going to visit

An additional tip for making the time stranded at an airport much easier on the kids is to talk about where you are going or where you have been. If you have a map, pull it out and show the kids exactly where you were or where you are headed. Doing so will pass the time wonderfully.

Watch the Planes

Watch the airplanes go by to pass the time in the airport with your young kids, toddlers, and babies.

Most airports have extremely large windows in the terminals. This is the perfect spot for watching people board planes as well as watching the airplanes take off and land. In addition to the planes, the children may also love watching the luggage cars zipping around the airport.

Listen to Music

Come prepared with an mp3 player or cd player so that your kids can listed to music to pass the time in the airport when stranded

If you have a walkman or mp3 player on hand, listening to music is another way to pacify the kids. Hopefully you can listen to some kid’s music as this often puts a smile on the faces of the little kids.

Put Your Cell Phone to Good Use

Put Your Cell Phone to Good Use

You can also make the time go faster by putting your cell phone to good use. Call up family members who are not traveling with you and put the kids on the phone with them. This will entertain the children and make their time stranded at the airport go much faster.

Make Up Games to Play with Your Children in the Airport

Play with your kids in the airport. Make up games to keep them busy and occupied when stranded in the airport overnight

If you are stranded in the airport for a long period of time, you are going to run out of things to do pretty quickly. Lucky for you, airports are huge places with a lot of places that your kids haven’t seen before. Make up games to keep your children happy during this long period of time. However, NEVER PLAY HIDE AND SEEK IN AN AIRPORT. You will need to keep an eye on your children at all times so don’t play anything that will take your eyes off of them. You never know what sort of predators are hanging out in the airport. Kids love jumping from square tile to square tile, and I bet you can make up a ton of games from this simple idea. There are also flat escalators that your kids will love to go back and forth on. There probably will be abstract sculptures that have dual purposes…one is aesthetics and the other one is for kids to climb on. There are tons of games to make up in the airport, just make sure to keep them all safe.

Let Your Kids Play with Pay Telephones (Just This Once)

Kids love to play with pay phones let them play with them in the airport

You are in extraordinary circumstances that hopefully will never happen to you again. You need to keep your young children and toddlers busy for a long period of time in an airport. If you see an entire row of pay telephones and only one or two are in use, what is the harm to let your child play on the pay telephones. If you have extra minutes on your cell phone plan, call the number on the pay telephone and let your child pick it up and speak to you. He or she will LOVE this games and probably will tell you that it was their favorite part of the entire vacation. If you don’t have a cell phone, they can still have a good time playing with the telephone. Just remember to hit the hang up button every few seconds to make sure that they don’t call anyone.

Go Shopping with Your Kids in the Airport Stores. Buy Them a Special Gift.

Go Shopping in the Airport with Your Kids - buy them a special toy The airport is filled with specialty shops. If you have extra money that you have in your budget to spend, then take your kids shopping. Help your child find a special toy or game that will keep them busy for a long time.

Take Out Your Wallet and Let Your Children Play With Your Change

Take Out Your Coins and Let Your Kids Count It or Play with It

Take a lot of change with you when you are on vacation. Change always comes in handy for vending machines, coin operated items such as phones, tolls, and other things that you might have to pay for with change. So, if you follow this rule, then you probably have a LOT of change. Take it out and let your child play with it. Your child can count it. Put it under paper and rub a pencil over it for cool patterns. Your child can make designs with it. Your child can play coin basketball or coin football with your or another child with coins. Your child can stack coins. Your child can create a bingo game with paper and coins. Your child can create a checkers game with coins and paper as well. There are limitless possibilities with coins.

Help Your Child Meet Other Stranded Children Who Are On Your Flight

Help your children meet other kids in the airport stranded too

There are a lot of people who are probably also stranded from your flight or other flights. Look out for other people with kids that are around the age of your children. Then sit close by this family and watch it all happen. Making a new friend could keep your child occupied for days, lets hope that it doesn’t come to this though. On the other hand, keep it safe. Always keep an eye on your children and don’t leave your children with this new parent that you just met.

Pay for Internet Access at the Airport and Connect to Kids Friendly Web Sites

Pay for Internet Access at the Airport and Connect to NickJr.com or PBS.org for Kids Fun Sites

Okay, now you are getting pretty desperate. It has been 12 hours and your kids are getting cranky. Ahah! There is Internet Access at the airport for people who have to be connected ALL THE TIME. Well, there is no law that says that kids can’t use these computers. I have never used this service, so I am not sure how much it costs. But if you have extra cash and you are about to go out of your mind entertaining your kids, then go for it. Some fun sites that your kids will enjoy visiting are:

Nick Jr Nickelodeon
PBS
Noggin Cartoon Network
Game Zeeks Kidz Page
Fun Brain
Fun Island
Kids Games
Real Arcade
Fun School Games
Slash Play
Sess
Play Kids Games
Free-Games
Squiglys Playhouse Games

Colgate
Learn 4 Good
Prongo
Terra Game
Free Games WS
Cogcon
National Geographic

I hope that you never get stranded in an airport with your kids, but if you do, now you have the ideas to get you through it with out going completely bonkers. Good Luck.

Americans and Traveling Abroad With Kids - How to Act Appropriately in Other Countries When Anti-Americanism Is So High

Americans and Traveling Abroad With Kids - How to Act Appropriately in Other Countries When Anti-Americanism Is So High

Americans and Traveling Abroad With Kids - How to Act Appropriately in Other Countries When Anti-Americanism Is So High

When traveling abroad with children, there are many considerations to think about. With regard to Americans traveling overseas with kids, the list of considerations gets considerably longer. There are a few tips to keep in mind with regard to how parents and their children should act when traveling abroad especially in a time when an anti-Americanism sentiment exists for some in other countries.

Teach Your Children About the Customs of the Country You Will Be Visiting

Teach Your Children About the Customs of the Country You Will Be Visiting

One of the main things you can do in order to properly represent the United States in a favorable light when traveling abroad with children is to teach your kids about the present customs in the country which you will be visiting. This can be done via books or online resources. This will not only help the kids to become more knowledgeable with regard to another country’s customs but it will also be a good thing for the parents to learn as well.

Learn Some of the Language

Learn Some of the Language when traveling to another country as americans

If you are visiting a country where English is not spoken or not the primary language of that country, you should try to learn some of the language which will be spoken in that country. If your children are of an older age, they too can learn some of the phrases and words of that country which you will be visiting. This puts forth an effort on the part of the parents and children to speak the language and not expect others in that country to know English.

Be Polite in Foreign Countries

Be Polite in Foreign Countries

No matter whether you are traveling abroad with the kids or traveling within the U.S., it is crucial that you are polite no matter what. Try to teach your children how to ask for things nicely and acknowledge others in a polite manner. This goes for the parents also. This will truly make a big difference in the grand scheme of things.

Try New Things While Abroad

Try New Things While Abroad

It is also a good idea to be open to new experiences, whether it be in regard to food, activities or lodging. Do not expect everything to conform to American standards and try to adapt to the visiting country’s way of life. Dine on their cuisine and take part in local activities. Not only will these experiences show those living in the country you are visiting that Americans do not turn their noses up about things they are not familiar with but it will also provide you with a well-rounded vacation experience sure to be remembered.

How to Make Sure That Your Family and Kids Get Through Airport Security

How to Make Sure That You and Your Kids Get Through Airport Security

How to Make Sure That You, Your Family, and Your Kids Get Through Airport Security

Airport security is at a heightened level these days. Ever since the attacks of September 11th, airports throughout the world have been doing their part to ensure safe travel for all who take to the friendly skies to get to their destinations. With the increased security at these airports, there are new rules and regulations in place as well. The following will provide some tips to help you and your kids get through airport security in an easier manner.

Consult the Airport Safety Regulations Before Traveling

Consult the Airport Safety Regulations Before Traveling

Before traveling by air it is a good idea to consult the airport website if they have one. This will provide information with regard to airport security requirements at that particular airport in addition to federal TSA rules and regulations which you must be aware of as well. This way both you and your kids will be prepared as you step up to the front of the security line.

Don’t Pack Liquids - Airport Security Won’t Let You Through

Don't Pack Liquids - Airport Security Won't Let You Through

There is also a relatively new requirement where liquids are forbidden in carry on items. Therefore, check your items and make sure that the liquids are packed in the checked luggage. If you have to bring some type of liquid in your carry on bags or purse make sure that it is in a Ziploc bag to prevent it from leaking.

What if I have a Baby or Toddler That Needs a Cup or a Bottle on the Plane?

I would say that you then bring an empty bottle or baby cup and then buy apple juice or milk on the plane. I would also bring powdered formula and then fill up with bottled water or tap water (if they are older than 6 months old). As soon as you get on the plane, explain to the flight attendant your situation and ask if you can buy water, milk,  or apple juice before the flight begins so that you can comfort your baby. I am sure that the last thing that the flight attendant will want is a crying baby on the plane and they will assist you.

Shoes Off and Ready to Go to Get Through Airport Security

Shoes Off and Ready to Go to Get Through Airport Security

Another way in which you and your kids can not only get through airport security but do so in a speedy fashion is to have your shoes off and ready to go when you are at the front of the security line. Just make sure that the shoes off requirement is still in effect at your airport. You will be able to tell simply by watching the people already at the front of the line.

Keep Your Kids Quiet and Attentive When Approaching the Front of the Airport Security Line

Keep Your Kids Quiet and Attentive When Approaching the Front of the Airport Security Line

It is also a good idea to try and have your kids standing as quietly as possible when you are approaching the front of the line. TSA agents do not like rowdy kids as they can often slow down the movement of the line. Try to pay attention to not only what your children are doing but also what is going on at the front of the line. Being quiet and attentive will help to move things along a bit and get you through airport security.

Identification and Airplane Tickets in Hand - Keep TSA Agents Happy

Identification and Airplane Tickets in Hand - Keep TSA Agents Happy

An additional way to ensure that you get through airport security is to have your tickets and identification in your hand as you approach security. You should also have your children’s tickets ready and waiting as well. This will make the TSA agent pleased as they don’t have to wait for you to fumble around for the necessary documentation.

Have Everything in the Conveyor Belt Boxes to Go Through the Metal Detectors

Have Everything in the Conveyor Belt Boxes to Go Through the Metal Detectorsu

You should also try to have everything in the boxes which go through the metal detectors. Having this done in an orderly fashion will help to ensure that the metal detector portion of the security area is undertaken in a quick manner.
