The Kit Carson County Carousel - The Kit Carson County Carousel is the only antique carousel in America that still has the original paint on the scenery and on the animals. The deer have real antlers and some of the horses have real horse tails. A fully restored 1912 Wurlitzer Monster Military Band Organ plays while the carousel goes around. It, and the drive machinery are enclosed in the center of the carousel by 45 Victorian oil paintings. The carousel was originally made in 1905 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company for Elitch Gardens. It was the sixth of the 74 carousels made by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company and is also known as PTC No. 6. The carousel was sold to Kit Carson County in 1928.

El Pueblo History Museum - Founded in 1842 on the Arkansas River - which divided the United States from Mexico - El Pueblo was an important cultural crossroads of the Southwest. High Canyon Adventures Guest Ranch - Opportunities on the guest ranch are endless. There are numerous hiking and biking trails, as well as fishing holes. Wildlife on the ranch is abundant. Large animals such as deer and elk can be seen often. Many types of birds and small animals can be found as well. Domesticated animals on the ranch include cows, sheep, and horses. The Children's Museum of Durango - The Children's Museum of Durango is located on the 2nd floor of the Durango Arts Center in historic downtown Durango. The 1,100 square feet exhibit gallery is packed with interesting things for kids to see and do. Over 12,000 children and adults visited our museum last year. Steady annual growth over the last ten years means we are ready to expand to larger facilities and serve a broader age range of youths. Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Museum - Durango was founded by the Denver & Rio Grande Railway in 1879. The railroad arrived in Durango on August 5, 1881 and construction on the line to Silverton began in the fall of the same year. Buckskin Joe Frontier Town & Railway - Situated at the base of the Greenhorn Mountains in beautiful central Colorado is one of the few remaining authentic old west towns in existence. El Pueblo History Museum - Founded in 1842 on the Arkansas River - which divided the United States from Mexico - El Pueblo was an important cultural crossroads of the Southwest. Here lived Anglo, French, and African-American trappers and traders; Mexican settlers and their families; and Plains, Iroquois, Delaware, and Cherokee Indians. The occupants traded, farmed, and ranched in and around this combination trading post and settlement. Made of adobe, the post and its living quarters, were built around a secure interior plaza.
