Nylander Museum - The museum was originally designed to house the collections of Olof O. Nylander, a self-taught naturalist from Oremolla, Skifvarps, Sweden. Born in 1864, Mr. Nylander became interested in natural history as a youth. His spare time was spent collecting fossils and mineral specimens. As a teenager he apprenticed as a house painter. Apple Acres Farm - Apple Acres Farm has been in the Johnson family since 1949. Leighton (aka Pappy) Johnson bought the farm and started raising apples and chickens. The apples survived, chickens didn't. 30 years later, Pappy was ready to retire so he put the farm up for sale. Son Bill couldn't bear to see it sold so quit his job and moved his family back to the farm in 1979 where he continued (and still does) the apple farming tradition. He replanted many of the old orchards, built a beautiful gift store, acquired a commercial cider press and slowly built the business up.

Perry's Nut House - Perry's Nut House has been referred to as a Maine Institution since 1927 when I.L. Perry first opened his doors to sell pecans and other assorted nuts. Mr. Perry took advantage of a bumper crop of pecans in Georgia, bringing the taste of the south to the folks of "Down East". He also had added some curios and museum pieces collected on his travels. This was so successful that Mr. Perry needed a larger shop to do business in, so he moved Perry's to his, then cigar factory.

Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad Company - The B&MLRR was originally laid with 56lb wrought iron Welsh "Pear" rail during its construction between August, 1868 and December, 1870. This rail was all replaced within a few years, however, with heavier American rolled steel rail (first by 67lb, then 75lb to 85lb) by the Maine Central which operated the line under lease from 1871 to December 31, 1925, as the MEC's Belfast Branch. The original construction rail is branded "GUEST S.O.W." and came to Belfast by ship from Wales.
