National Museum of Civil War Medicine - With nearly 7,000 square feet of exhibit space on two floors, the expanded Museum can better illustrate the medical story of the American Civil War. It is a story of care and healing, courage and devotion amidst the death and destruction of war. It is also a story of major advances that changed medicine forever. Through the dedication, innovation and devotion of Civil War surgeons and medical support staff on both sides of the conflict, the foundation for today's modern military medicine was laid. Their tenacity and compassion to heal stemmed a death rate that could have easily been twice the 620,000.

Western Maryland Railway Station - The Western Maryland Railway Station stands today as the last remaining building linked directly to Cumberland's role as a major railroad center. In the 19th century, Cumberland emerged as one of the East Coast's major transportation gateways. No less than three major transportation routes began or ended in Cumberland--America's first highway, the National Road; one of America's most profitable railroads, the Baltimore & Ohio; and the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, one of the era's most challenging engineering undertakings. Brought by road, rail, and water, Cumberland prospered by helping channel the raw materials, products, and people flowing between the East Coast and the new states lying on the far side of the Appalachian Mountains.

Frostburg Museum - Built in 1899; the last school in the area of a design that was fairly common at that time. Originally six rooms, a two-room and auditorium addition dates from ca. 1914, and several areas of the basement were at one time used for cafeteria, kindergarten, and meeting rooms. When it was no longer needed as a school, the building reverted to the County Commissioneers, who gave it to the City; the Museum Association now holds title to it.
