Monument Mountain - For almost two centuries, Monument Mountain has been a source of inspiration to poets, novelists, and painters. During William Cullen Bryant's stay in Great Barrington (1815-1825), he penned "Monument Mountain," a lyrical poem that tells the story of a Mohican maiden whose forbidden love for her cousin led her to leap to her death from the mountain's cliffs. Western Gateway Heritage State Park - A former railroad yard, this urban park uses historical artifacts and exhibits to bring to life the controversial and danger-filled construction of the Hoosac Tunnel, one of the greatest engineering feats of the 19th century. The tunnel was dug 4.75 miles through Hoosac Mountain, linking Massachusetts to Albany, NY. 200 men lost their lives building the tunnel, which is still being used today. Marino Lookout Farm - Marino Lookout Farm is recognized as the oldest continuously working farm in the country. First deeded in the late 1600's, the land has been farmed ever since, and its orchards have been a popular destination for autumn apple pickers for well over a century. Since 1991, Lookout Farm has seen major improvements. It was saved from bankruptcy when Lelio Marino, owner of Ristorante Marino of North Cambridge, Massachusetts, purchased the historic farm and vowed to restore it and use it for organic farming. He uses the farm to supply his acclaimed restaurant with organic produce and naturally raised meats. The program of organic farming is strictly administered to this day, year-round. Over 25,000 square feet of greenhouses allow the farm to grow vegetables right through the winter.

John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum - The Museum at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library marks the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II this year with a special exhibit on John F. Kennedy’s military service in the U.S. Navy in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific. The new exhibit, which features a large selection of never-before-seen materials, some on temporary loan by members of President Kennedy’s immediate family, runs through March 5, 2006. Duck Tours - Boston Duck Tours operates a fleet of restored World War II era DUKWs. These amphibious vehicles played an important role in both the European and Pacific theaters of the war. Now, Boston Duck Tours and Boston's Museum of Science have teamed up to present the history of these remarkable vehicles. A special exhibit will include a history of the DUKW, photographs, posters, and vintage film. General Motors built 21,000 DUKWs during the war. The display will also include a fully restored Seep. It looks like a miniature DUKW, but is actually one of 12,000 amphibious Jeeps built by the Ford Motor Company during World War II.

The Children's Museum - Founded in 1913 by a group of teachers in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood, the Boston Children's Museum began a "hands-on" tradition long before that phrase became commonplace. As early as 1913, it meant engaging youth in identifying and marking nature walks, preparing specimens, making clay and wax models for exhibits, and even attempting a working model of the metropolitan water system. Pilgrim Monument - It stands high on a hill, overlooking the town center. It is the symbol of Provincetown – its Eiffel Tower, its Statue of Liberty, its Big Ben or Mount Rushmore. The Pilgrim Monument was built to commemorate the "first landing" of the Mayflower Pilgrims in Provincetown on November 21, 1620, and their signing of the Mayflower Compact here. Each year at Thanksgiving we celebrate that historic event with the Lighting of the Monument.

Cape Cod Children's Museum - The museum is housed in a 17,000 square foot building on its own 80-acre site, abutted by 300 acres of town-owned conservation land. There are two floors of exhibits about the flora and fauna of Cape Cod, including exhibits on whales, indigenous birds, and coastal change, and several aquaria holding different species of crustaceans, mollusks, fish, frogs, turtles and snakes. Several displays are interactive and geared to children. Special, temporary exhibits enhance the permanent collection. The Museum also has a library and Museum Shop.
