The Mission at Riverwalk - A Fine Art Gallery, Coffee House and Guesthouse located in one of New Mexico's important historic buildings. The Mission was built in the 1920's as part of a Presbyterian outreach program and was the first protestant church in this area. The church is constructed of handmade adobes and is in the classic southwestern architectural style. It is now the oldest building on Santa Fe Ave. (Historic Rt. 66).

The Cibola Arts Council - The CAC runs the Double Six Gallery, which exhibits the work of nearly 200 of the region's multi-cultural artists, offers its annual Performance and Film Series, and exhibits artwork throughout the community through its Arts for Everyone program. Very Large Array - The Very Large Array, one of the world's premier astronomical radio observatories, consists of 27 radio antennas in a Y-shaped configuration on the Plains of San Agustin fifty miles west of Socorro, New Mexico. Each antenna is 25 meters (82 feet) in diameter. The data from the antennas is combined electronically to give the resolution of an antenna 36km (22 miles) across, with the sensitivity of a dish 130 meters (422 feet) in diameter.

The Rio Grande Botanic Garden - Located across the plaza from the Albuquerque Aquarium and bordered on the west by the famed Rio Grande and the largest cottonwood gallery forest in the world, the lush and peaceful Rio Grande Botanic Garden represents an oasis in the desert. The Albuquerque Aquarium - The architecturally impressive Albuquerque Aquarium exhibits Gulf of Mexico saltwater species from a variety of habitats, including estuarine, surf zone, shallow waters, coral reefs, open ocean and deep ocean. The highlight of the aquarium is a 285,000 gallon ocean tank where brown, sandtiger, blacktip and nurse sharks swim alongside brilliantly colored reef fish, eels, sea turtles and open ocean species. National Solar Observatory - The National Solar Observatory in Sunspot, New Mexico, is located on the rim of the forested Sacramento mountains overlooking the White Sands National Monument and the Tularosa basin of New Mexico. The primary instrument for this observatory is an evacuated (vacuum) column used for continuous monitoring of the sun during daylight hours.

Alameda Zoo - The Alameda Park Zoo was established in 1898 with a small collection of waterfowl and deer. The park served as a diversion for weary railway travelers to enjoy as the steam locomotives refueled. Today the well shaded, seven acre Zoo is home to 90 different species, nearly 300 animals. Visitors enjoy playful otters, colorful birds, endangered wolves, and are entertained by the antics of a variety of monkeys. The Zoo also offers travelers a shaded picnic area and playground on seven acres of city park.
