Taube Museum of Art - The Minot Art Association, established in 1970, moved to accept the old First National Bank building in downtown Minot (pop. 34,544) in July of 1992. Formally housed at the North Dakota State Fairground, the Minot Art Gallery moved to the Taube Museum of Art in August of 1997. It has exhibits all year round with the Student Art Show an important event. After being judged at the Taube, it then tours the state. The Taube offers children and adult art classes, hosts Christmas and birthday parties and encourages school and organizational tours.

Scandinavian Heritage Park - Historic park founded in honor of our nation’s bicentennial pays tribute to Scandinavian and American heritage. A 230-year-old house from Sigdal, Norway, was dismantled and shipped to Minot and reassembled in the park. Also on site is a Norwegian stabbur, a Danish Windmill, the Nordic-style visitor center. A waterfall and the largest Dala Horse (Nations symbol of Sweden) in North America. There also are statues of famous Scandinavian Americans and the “eternal flame.”

Frostfire Mountain - Winter is truly a phenomenon in northeastern North Dakota. Carved into the heavily wooded Pembina Gorge is an alpine ski area. Northern Lights Tower - Every night in Rugby, beautiful blazes of colored light appear in the sky near a stretch of U.S. highway 2. Talkington Trail - Theodore Roosevelt first came to Dakota Territory in September 1883 to hunt bison. Before returning home to New York, he became interested in the cattle business and established the Maltese Cross Ranch partnership. The next year he returned to the badlands and started a second open-range ranch, the Elkhorn. TR witnessed the decline in wildlife and saw the grasslands destroyed due to overgrazing. Today, the colorful North Dakota badlands provides the scenic backdrop to the park which memorializes the 26th president for his enduring contributions to the conservation of our nation's resources. The area was first established as a Memorial Park in 1947. It gained National Park status in 1978. The Little Missouri River has shaped this 70,448-acre park, which is home to a variety of plants and animals.

Maah Daah Hey Trail - The trail name, "Maah Daah Hey", comes from the Mandan Indians. In the Mandan language, one word or phrase can describe a picture, feeling, or situation. In this case, the phrase means "an area that has been or will be around for a long time." The trail uses a turtle as the trail marker. The turtle was honored because of its firm determination, steadfastness, patience, long life, and fortitude.

The Dakota Zoo - The Dakota Zoo began with the 67 acre Marc and Betty Christianson Farm located at what was then the north edge of Bismarck. Initially, the Christianson Farm operated as a kennel for the boarding of domesticated animals such as dogs, cats, horses and, at one point, was even used to raise mink for profit. However, over time, friends and neighbors who knew the Christiansons and knew of their love for animals began stopping at the farm to deliver stray and/or injured animals with the knowledge that they would receive the care they required.

Custer House - The spirit of the wives of the soldiers who were killed in the battle of the Little Big Horn remain here. On occaision a terrible moaning and wailing cry comes from a spot on the boardwalk just to the south side of the Custer mansion. It is followed by a rushing wind-like energy that shoots upward from the ground. Lights appear at night in the downstairs and upstairs windows.

Chester Fritz Auditorium - The Chester Fritz Auditorium rests on a base measuring 170' x 220' and has an average height of 85 feet, equivalent to a seven story building. The building covers over 26,000 square feet of ground and has more than two acres of interior floors. The building is constructed of 1 1/3 million pounds of steel framing, approximately 1/3 million pounds of steel reinforcing and more than 12 million pounds of concrete. The exterior is of orange Hebron rock-faced brick and pre-cast concrete, both made in North Dakota.

Red River Zoo - The Red River Zoo is located in southwest Fargo, North Dakota on thirty-three acres of land, formerly the George Anderson Family Red River Ranch. The initial site included only seven trees and a few old farm buildings. Several buildings were either modified to fit the needs of the new zoo or simply destroyed due to public safety concerns. The featureless land has since been transformed into areas of beautifully landscaped exhibits, rolling hills and a series of five ponds connected by flowing streams. Over five hundred trees and shrubs have been planted to create the illusion of wilderness amongst the cityscape of Fargo.
