DESTINATIONS: HAWAII : FREE STUFF TO DO: HULA - Many hotels have free hula shows at night, so you might be able to find one just by getting off the elevator. Still, make time for the free hula show on the beach near Kaiulani Avenue. As of fall 2001 the show starts around 6:30pm and runs about an hour. The performers are all local people, and you can sit on some grass next to the beach, with the waves breaking a short distance away, and just r-e-l-a-x and be swept away. The whole experience is remarkably romantic, especially if there is an especially gorgeous sunset behind you. Worth a babysitting experience if Mom and Dad want to slip away for an hour.
DESTINATIONS: HAWAII NOT FREE BUT WORTH DOING: BISHOP MUSEUM - From Kuhio Avenue heading away from Diamond Head, board the 2 School Street-Middle Street bus and ride to School Street and Kapalama Avenue. Walk toward the ocean on Kapalama Avenue one block to Bernice Street. To return, stand on School Street in the opposite direction from where you alighted and board the 2 Waikiki-Kapiolani Park bus.
