CATCH ME IF YOU CAN - Catch Me If You Can There are few things worse than succumbing to a bad bug -- especially while on the road. Keep clear of the cold and flu this season by packing smart.

USA: WYNDHAM AND JET SET BABIES MAKE ANY TRIP EASIER. - Traveling with a baby or a toddler can be challenging and often exhausting. Luckily there are ways to make the experiences easier and almost stress free. New parents say that their biggest surprise is finding out how much packing is involved when traveling with a baby.

TODDLER IN TOW: ROAD TRIP LESSONS LEARNED. - Travel with children anywhere can be a challenge, but packing up a toddler for a trip to the big city can be a true adventure. How can you prepare you little one? How do you prepare yourself?

BEFORE YOU GO: PACKING : SUITCASES - Get the kids to carry something. It makes them happy and involved and also can actually spread the burden around, especially if they are bit older and can carry their own weight (not literally, that's too much already). Even our three year old went on the plane with a kid-sized backpack stuffed with HER diapers and HER change of clothes and some of HER toys. She felt quite, well, empowered by all this and when we needed a diaper it was handy.

BEFORE YOU GO: PACKING : LOCKS - Locks are good too. Don't be fooled thinking the little locks on a suitcase will really deter theft. Instead, they will more productively give you a chance to be involved with any child-initiated random suitcase opening. The locks will deter your son's attempt to open the case on a street-side bus stop to "get something" and will give you a chance to avoid opening the case upside down in your room. You have to hold on to the key yourself of course.

BEFORE YOU GO: PACKING : WEATHER - Knowing what the weather will be like in the host country can help you decide what to pack. Nowadays you can find at least rudimentary weather info in most newspapers and on CNN. You might also want to take a look at a few on-line sources for weather information:

BEFORE YOU GO: PACKING : WASHING CLOTHES - Try and find out if you can wash clothes easily where you'll be. For example, are there coin laundries in Japan (actually yes, but usually in residential areas you'll be unlikely to visit as tourists)? If you can wash clothes fairly easily where you'll be, you'll make a good trade, exchanging a hour or two in the laundry for two weeks of carrying around less stuff.

BEFORE YOU GO: PACKING : CARDBOARD BOXES - For "one way" items, such as disposable diapers you certainly WON'T be bringing home, consider using a sturdy cardboard box instead of a suitcase. This way you won't haul around an empty suitcase once the diapers are exhausted in Prague.

BEFORE YOU GO: PACKING : IDENTIFYING YOUR LUGGAGE - Always put a large piece of paper inside your bags with contact info and names. Put the contact info in for the whole trip, with dates. You can write the important info in black marker in the middle of the paper, circle it, and let your child crayon the surrounding space. A big piece of paper leaves lots of crayon room and makes it easier for someone opening your lost case to see who to call.

BEFORE YOU GO: PACKING : WHAT TO PACK - I'll assume you already have a good handle on the regular things to pack. If not, give your mother a call and let her remind you to pack clean underwear. Better yet, give my mom a call and she'll remind you and it will keep her off my back for making fun of her on the Internet for the whole world to see.

BEFORE YOU GO: PACKING : SUITCASES - Get the kids to carry something. It makes them happy and involved and also can actually spread the burden around, especially if they are bit older and can carry their own weight (not literally, that's too much already).
